Emergency Plan

We have an emergency communication structure set in place to manage communication and safety during emergencies at Bios. The purpose is to provide for a safe environment for everyone on the campus. This will be achieved through a clear command structure and assigned responsibilities for everyone on campus during an emergency.

When there is an emergency, one person is designated as the administrator. That person has the final say in any decision. That person is me unless I am not on campus for some reason. Three people have been designated as " captain " of the area they have been assigned. Captains report directly to the administrator for direction. Captains also organize the teachers, support staff, and responsible adults in their area to help them with the safety goals for that area. Beth Ihms, Lori Halbison, and Katie Micilcavage are the assigned captains of the 7-12 grade building, middle building, and outside / modular building respectively.

The administrator is responsible for sending out emergency information through Twitter. This information is to provide families and staff current information on the emergency.

No two emergencies have ever been the same in my over thirty years working with people. Practicing exiting buildings (fire drills) and setting up clear lines of communication and responsibilities for future unknown emergencies increases our ability to keep everyone safe at Bios Christian Academy.
